Intercessory Prayer Ministries
Leader: Joanie Schilling

The Intercessory Prayer Ministry of MUMC was born out of the belief that God wants us to ask for what we need and when we are unable or unwilling to ask for ourselves, others may intercede for us.  Today, there are over 25 members of this congregation actively praying for the needs expressed by the church family during each worship service or on prayer cards that are available in each pew.  These Prayer Partners are also willing to pray with individuals in the chapel as a need arises.  Prayer partners also partner with staff members to pray for them and for the various ministries which they oversee.  Prayer partners can be identified by a purple nametag.

The Intercessory Prayer Ministry extends beyond the walls of our church building to reach people throughout the community, the state and nation through our Prayer Quilt Ministry.  With over 40 volunteers, the Prayer Quilt Ministry continues our belief in the power of prayer as they cut, place and sew prayer quilts.  On Sunday mornings, these names are lifted up in worship and each person in the congregation is invited to tie a knot and say a prayer on the recipient’s behalf.  The gift of a hand-tied quilt with each knot representing a prayer said have touched the lives of over 1,000 recipients.
Those in need of immediate prayer during the week can contact the church office to ask that a prayer request be put on the Prayer Chain.
